HMCS Venture - 1954 |
Cliff joined "Venture" from Trois Rivières, QC in September 1954 and
after completing his JOTC course in 1957 was posted to sea on the
west coast. In the spring of 1958, Cliff married Isobel Styring and shortly after they were married, he was selected for Submarine Training with the Royal Navy at HMS Dolphin in Portsmouth, England. Cliff and Isobel proceeded to Portsmouth, England. Soon after Cliff and Isobel returned to Canada, he retired from the RCN. Cliff and Isobel had three children, Jeremy, Bruce and Harriet. Isobel predeceased Cliff by many years. In 1971, Cliff married Margaret in England. On their return to Canada, they lived in Oshawa for a short time before settling down in Guelph, ON. Cliff and Margaret have one daughter, Rachel who was born in 1978. Cliff worked as Director of Personnel for ITT Canada and then in Toronto at the corporate headquarters. Later he became VP of Human Resources for Consumer's Distributing (among other positions) finally retiring from ICS in 1999. He enjoyed downhill skiing, kayaking and just puttering around the cottage. He was an avid reader who also loved cooking and classical music. Cliff had several "warning" strokes over the years and in September 2006 he suffered a massive stroke. He died on 1st July 2007. His ashes were buried in the St Pierre family plot at Trois Rivière, QC Cliff will be remembered by all of his friends for his relaxed fun loving spirit, his unselfish generosity and the genuine concern (love) that he had for all his friends. |
