We regret to announce the death of Glenn Brown at his home in Kingston, ON, on Saturday, July 27, 2013. He leaves behind to grieve his wife of over 50 years Myrna (nee Everett) of Kingston, children Gregory (Claudette) of Toronto, Lindsay of Ottawa, Andrea (Gerard Yun) of Waterloo; beloved grandchildren Alexander and Michael Brown, Iris and Isabel Yun; and brothers Harry (Buster) of Arnprior and Brian of Ottawa.
Born in Ottawa in 1937, Glenn enjoyed a 38-year career in the RCN and the Canadian Forces. He spent five years in the aircraft carrier BONAVENTURE, commanded 406 Squadron Shearwater N.S., and CFB TORONTO. He proudly served his country in the USA, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. After retirement from the CF in 1991, he was a member of the International Staff at NATO Headquarters, Brussels and then in 1998 returned to Canada and was a Senior Fellow at the Queen's University Centre for International Relations.
An athlete, Glenn excelled at football, boxing, fastball, running, and biking, but not golf. He completed his last marathon at age 67, and his last triathlon at age 73.
He will be missed. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will take place at the National Military Cemetery, Beechwood, Ottawa at a later date.
